deborah-abbott-moulinMy fighting spirit

Born with the flame to survive, it became a flame to grow during my days of corporate life, as I discovered the world of self-development through the book Feel The Fear And Do It Anyway by Susan Jeffers, recommended by my much-admired boss, back in 1999. Eversince, equipped with my limitless curiosity and forever yearning to learn, I have been on a quest to personal development, which has taken centre stage in my professional life.

According to the Cambridge dictionary, a fighting spirit is defined as : the willingness to compete or to do things that are difficult.

My fighting spirit leans on both definitions :

1. To do things that are difficult
Doing things that are difficult is about doing things beyond one's zone of comfort, not letting the face of uncertainty stifle your decision-making and actions. Where there is no difficulty, there is no learning ; where there is no learning, one cannot grow. And without growth, no improvement can be achieved.

My fighting spirit is what takes me places I wouldn't have otherwise experienced and learnt from, and made me the person I am today. As a leadership coach-trainer, I strive to contributing towards a more sustainable and balanced workplace, both humanly and economically, through effective and ethical leadership.

2. The willingness to compete
When I refer to competing, I hereby refer to the healthy competition, the one that focuses on rising above the « grey masses » by operating innovatively and in collaboration rather than competing against others. Highly performing leaders are those who not only seek to stretch tings beyond one's zone of comfort, not letting the face of uncertainty stifle your decision-making and actions.
